Executive Director of Strategic Marketing
This executive will lead the development and execution of an enterprise-level marketing strategy to accelerate growth, strengthen the brand, and drive customer-centric innovation. Operating in a matrix environment, the role will collaborate closely with Business Units, Commercial and Product Management teams, Technology, and Operations to align strategic direction, commercialize growth opportunities, and ensure a scalable and competitive market presence.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Market and Customer Insight
- Lead the development and execution of market research initiatives to understand customer needs, preferences, behaviors, and emerging trends.
- Translate customer and market insights into actionable strategies that drive marketing, product development, and go-to-market plans.
- Oversee competitive analysis and market segmentation to identify opportunities for growth and differentiation.
- Monitor industry trends, customer feedback, and competitor positioning to inform strategic planning and decision-making.
- Partner with Sales, Product, and Customer Experience teams to develop a holistic view of the customer journey and lifecycle.
- Use data-driven insights to influence brand positioning, messaging, and campaign strategies.
- Champion a customer-centric culture across the organization by sharing insights and fostering alignment around customer needs.
- Build and manage tools and processes for gathering VOC (Voice of Customer), NPS, and other feedback mechanisms.
- Growth Strategy & Opportunity Development
- Evaluate and prioritize 3–5 key growth areas using quantitative and qualitative analysis.
- Build actionable growth roadmaps that span new products, solutions, and value-add services.
- Identify new market segments, customer profiles, and partnership opportunities to drive expansion and increase market share.
- Collaborate with Sales, Product, and Executive teams to define go-to-market (GTM) strategies for new products, services, or geographic regions.
- Lead initiatives to improve lead generation, conversion rates, and customer acquisition efficiency across all marketing channels.
- Design and implement marketing strategies to support pricing, product positioning, and channel development.
- Drive cross-functional alignment and accountability for pipeline development, sales enablement, and demand generation programs.
- Assess performance metrics and adjust strategies to ensure ROI and sustainable growth outcomes.
- Innovation & Commercialization
- Partner with customers and internal stakeholders to lead ideation and co-innovation efforts.
- Oversee pilot testing, customer validation, and de-risking of new product concepts.
- Translate innovation into go-to-market strategies, including messaging, positioning, pricing, and launch planning.
- Go-to-Market Leadership
- Create toolkits and resources for Sales and Product teams.
- Lead enterprise-level product launches in partnership with Business Units.
- Provide oversight to marketing communications and campaign strategy to ensure brand consistency and demand generation.
- Team Leadership & Organizational Alignment
- Mentor, coach, and develop a high-performing marketing team.
- Facilitate alignment across departments through leadership of the Monthly Growth Council.
- Act as the marketing voice in strategic planning and executive meetings.
- Metrics & Accountability
- Define success metrics and KPIs across marketing and growth initiatives.
- Monitor campaign performance, customer engagement, and revenue impact.
- Provide regular updates to the Executive Leadership Team and Board as needed
REPORTING STRUCTURE
- This position reports to the President of Hydrite.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive marketing leadership experience in B2B or manufacturing environments.
- Proven track record of identifying and executing successful growth strategies.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence at the executive level.
- Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and project management capabilities.
- Experience managing marketing teams, budgets, and performance metrics.
Preferred:
- Experience in the chemical or industrial sectors.
- Familiarity with innovation frameworks and new product development processes (e.g., Stage-Gate, Lean Startup).
- Proficiency with CRM and marketing automation platforms (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot, Marketo).
